Ready Steady Go Kids

Today, I had the second interview that I mentioned yesterday. Again, it was an extremely interactive “interview,” and again I was not asked any questions about myself, such as “what are your three strengths and weaknesses?” or “describe a time when you were faced with a challenge and what did you do to resolve it?” Instead, I essentially did the same thing that I will be doing as an employee of Ready Steady Go Kids. (Spoiler: I received a call on my walk home from the train asking if I would like to accept the position!!)

I arrived during the middle of the first class session, so I sat to the side and watched Oli, the guy I will be working with, do his thing. Oli is an enthusiastic drama and exercise science double major who I later found out is recently married and now has a 16 month old daughter. He is fantastic with the children and he even goes as far to exclaim, “ouch! You’re too strong!” when a little kid gives him a high five. All of the kids adore him.

The first class that I mostly watched (and participated in at the end) was made up of four 2 year olds and their mothers. The second and third classes where I was an active teacher was composed of 11 to 12 4 and 5 year olds. All of the children were adorable! We taught the same tennis lesson, including learning forehands and volleys, to all three groups. I had an absolute blast. It’s a job completely made for me! Oli will be a great trainer, too, because he apparently has the very highest rating in the program.

Today was the most fun “interview” that I have ever experienced and I am so excited to start working next Monday. My shifts are M, T, and F from around 9:00 to 12:00 at $22 an hour. Ah perfect hours, perfect job, awesome pay. If only I could do it forever! 🙂
